Typical Session

Most sessions last for one hour, taking place weekly. There is some flexibility though for longer sessions or less frequent attendance.

Art forms used in a session can include:-

  • painting
  • drawing
  • sandplay - a technique originally developed by a Jungian analyst which uses miniatures in a sandtray
  • clay
  • music
  • puppets
  • dance / movement
  • poetry

Typical session outline

Most sessions begin with 10 - 15 minutes of talking, maybe more, on issues which are important for the client. We may then move into using one of the art forms as certain issues come to the fore. Further exploration may lead us into using another artform. The last 10 minutes of a session usually conclude with making sense of what has happened and linking it to the client's current life, unless the client wants to work only in metaphor and imagery.
